This file I have to type at run "RASPPPOE.inf" to get list of available Internet providers.

In windows I do it in this way-
1.First go to My network places ->View network connection->Local area network->Properties->Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)->Install->protocol->Microsoft TCP/IP version 6(select)->Have disk->(then browse to get “RASPPPOE.inf” file from ‘PPPOE” folder)->click OK->select PPP over Ethernet protocol->Click OK->>continue anyway(two times if asked)-> Apply->OK.

2.Then got to run ->Type raspppoe (Enter)->one window will open->select the LAN card (where internet cable is connected)->Click on Query available services->Select Internet provider’s name and->Click on Create dial up connection.-> Then dial up will be created on Desktop where I enter my username and password to start internet.

Now please tell me how to do it in LINUX, I really need it. I will Thank you a lot if you could help me out!

Thank you in Advance!

For how many times have you asked this?
Can you explain if your internet is PPPoE? Is it really broadband using ADSL modem/router? Or are you using that old 56k modem for dialing into your phone line?
Some more information is surely needed for helping you out? And what service provider do you take services from?
And what distribution are you using?

Also read THIS LINK to understand how to ask question smart way.

Sushil;
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-linux-803053/

In the above thread, you were offered a lot of help, but you did not respond to many of the questions and suggestions.

If you want us to help you, you first need to supply the summary that I requested in the thread. I am quoting it below:
Quote:

meandsushil;
Your next post needs to somehow acknowledge / summarize all of the inputs you have received and a short statement of which ones you tried.

For things you tried, tell us what happened.

For things you did NOT try, explain why not.

But do NOT simply keep repeating the question

If you don't respond directly to what people have already told you, this is going to be closed.
The same warning applies now.

@Sushil,

This is the third thread you have started for the same issue and the previous two have got a lot of good advice that you do not seem to have followed. Are you just trying to troll around and play with our time?

@pixellany - looking at this guy's previous attempts - my suggestion would be to close this before another 5 page pointless thread starts - this is either someone looking to waste people's (valuable) time or clearly not supposed to be using Linux.

Your point is well taken......this kind of situation has been discussed among the mods and we still lean to giving people the benefit of the doubt.

I promise you that this new thread will not be allowed to get like the previous one.

Not meaning to restate things, but several people in your other thread did give you help, and answer you, for this exact same question. This post from you, in that thread:

puts me off from offering any further help. You have an abundance of information available to you to get this working. Good luck.

pixellany 05-13-2010 01:32 PM

OP has not been back since starting this thread. This suggests that we can all go worry about someone else's problem.

meandsushil 05-13-2010 11:13 PM

I have no idea what this means!!

Sushil;
The next time you post here, please confirm that you have read and understood all of the replies in this thread.

A very patented reply from you Sushil. Do you need two days to just come back and reply? And how much time does it take to try couple of simple commands? And what are you trying? What I asked for is just the simple information from you. And you need to try to find it out?

pixellany 05-14-2010 06:12 AM

I promised not to let this thread get as bad as the previous one......

This will be closed if there is no substantive reply from Sushil by Sunday 5AM PDT (12 noon GMT)

By substantive reply, I mean the summary I requested earlier.

linuxlover.chaitanya 05-14-2010 06:25 AM

And I trust pixellany on this.

@Sushil,

You have got another two days. I guess more than what you should require to apply all the replies and reply. And please do not just ask us to wait for you are trying. Do something. Atleast something?

pixellany 05-16-2010 08:14 AM

Sushil;

As discussed above, I am closing this.

The next time you post at LQ, please be sure to respond to what people tell you---including answering their requests for more information, and reporting that you have tried suggestions, and what the result was.

As for the problem in this thread, do not post it again without providing the summary I requested.

thank you
