I need some help!!
I have installed Mandrake 9.0. It installed without incident. ( I think)
When I boot my computer, I get the option to choose Win XP or Linux. I select Linux and it loads up asking for login name. I give the name and then password. It takes me to a screen that says name@localhost ( or something like that ) How do I get KDE or Gnome to run? Please help and excuse my ignorance. I am EXTREMELY new at this. Thanks One other question. Did I download the right version. I downloaded Mandrake 9 i586. Is that the right one? |
As you are newbie I think you did a sort of standard installation. So login and type startx. If that works you may consider switching the standard runlevel to 5. Think this can be done via mandrake control center.
Azrael P.S If it works it's the correct one:-) |
Or when that screen comes up with name@Localhost press ctrl + alt + f7 and it will bring you to a graphical login, and as Azrael stated you can then change your runlevel :)
