I need serious help getting opengl working (willing to pay!)

Hi everyone,

I have read dozens of threads and tried umpteen methods of getting opengl working.

I am to the point where I would be willing to pay someone to help me.

I will give any info needed. I am very desperate - I need to be able to program in opengl on my fedora distro for one of my classes.

I even got glut installed and working (just needed something simple for testing).

Ok, here goes:

When I write and compile and simple c program using opengl and glut, everything is fine.
When I run the program, the glut window appears, but the display is empty because the opengl is not working properly.

Here's what I have:

ATI Radeon 9000
distro: FC2

I installed the drivers for the graphics card. I must have done it somewhat correctly, because opengl was installed and whenever I run glxinfo, the Direct Rendering always says "YES"

Can somebody PLEASE help me?!?

Thanks!!

Does 'glxgears' work, and give high frame rates? Have you tried any other openGL applications? If those work, and your GLUT program does not, I would probably suspect your program (or some problem during compilation) rather than GL itself.

I should have added this to my previous post, but every time I run glxgears, my computer freezes. The window opens - but no display (just like my program!).

Thanks

Can nobody help me with this? Or should I move it to another category?

Update:

I ran Fedora on an older kernel, and glxgears ran fine.

I'm getting framerates of around 120 FPS or more. Is this normal??

The only thing that troubles me is that when I run glxinfo, Direct Rendering is NO, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
