??? I need help uninstalling RedHAT 8.0


Hey i know im a llama but i am in need of some help. I need to uninstall redhat from my comp. can anyone tell me how to uninstall it or how to reformat my hardrive?

you can do it with partition magic running under windoze
then the usually with it: fdisk, format, etc the partiton(s) where is rh installed

no i dont have windows. Thats why i want to get rid of redhat.

But what do you want to do?
Erase (format) the entire disk?
Reinstall RH? Or another OS?
You can do it with the CD of the OS (linux, win)

i just want to format the whole thing and put windows pro on it. if you could help with this i would be greatful

Howzit

cat /var/log/messages > /dev/hda will wipe out your MBR/Partiontable.

Can use any file really but choose a farely large file the messages will do the trick

You can install it directly from the win CD
Windows will ask you about the partitions, kinds of its (vfat,ntfs), etc.
Let me know if you find any trouble

when i restart with the windows cd it wont boot.
umm do you know how to wip the hardrive?

Is the setup of the machine set to boot from a CD?

yes the bios is set to boot from the cd at start up.
How do you format it?

In another time you boot from that CD?
Is it a good copy?
Can you boot from RH CD?
