thanks to all for the answers. i did not mean to be rude, but when i got answers i was fast asleep.
at the moment i have suse 11.3 installed. generally that would suit me fine but can anyone give advice howto get my wifi going?

The problem with installing it directly is that it won't update automatically. It's better to add the repository and then add the package through yast.

Here's the wireless repo, as they gave it to you before.

Kindly read the entire thread in the link i have searched and posted for you!;). In another non-Linux forum where i "was" a member, the responses were not as "cultured" as here and i was told once to "GII"! sorry for my delayed reply i didn't even have the time to try out things.
plus this is the first time i've entered a forum. so i find it very difficult to find replies to my questions. i don't even know if anyone can see this here.
