i lost the toolbar in Opera

well i got opera because Mozilla wouldn't work in the little xinit window (after selecting the address bar, typing would not enter letters into the address bar) so i downloaded Opera. for the most part it's a great program BUT it has a ton of crap on the top as you know, so i right clicked and there were checked boxes of which bars were open. i went to unselect the one labelled something like "search bar" i think but i got a bit hasty and accidently selected toolbar. now i don't have a toolbar.

what does this mean you ask? it means that i can't bookmark anything, i can't close it while it's in the xinit window (i tried a few ctrl commands like ctrl c and ctrl x then i tried escape then alt escape, ctrl escape then swore at it) and i can't change any of the settings.

how do i get my toolbar back? btw, reinstalling it doesn't do anything.

ctrl-B would give you all the shortcuts, if there is nothing intersting then back up bookmarks in
.opera/ directory in your home directory, and remove .opera/
rm -r .opera/
start opera, you'll get fresh opera appearance, copy over your bookmarks and you are set.

i can't change the settings for my login name

i deleted the folders that opera created then reinstalled the program and it's STILL f***ed

btw there is aparently no command to delete a directory. my book says "rmdir (directory)" but i typed that in as root and it gave me the excuse that "Directory is not empty" so basically i can't delete without logging out and logging back in. isn't there a way to make this easier so that i can delete stuff without logging in and over and over and over wasting at least 20 minutes to do the simplest task???

use "rm -rf .opera" to delete a non-empty directory

but is there a way i can get my toolbar back? as long as that toolbar is gone, i have absolutely nothing to view the internet when i'm not in KDE. i can't find konqueror, mozilla won't let me type things in the address bar while in a small x window and opera can't close. damn it!
