Post I installed rhel5 with xp..I want to detect ntfs files on linux.....


I intalled rhel along with xp on my hard disk..
When rhel is running it is not possible to see
ntfs partitions..What packages i want to install
for this..what r the steps..please give me an answer..

Spell out your words.

And yes, it is possible to see NTFS partitions, and it's done all the time. You can research the mount command ("man mount" at a command prompt), and mount the Windows partition. Something like
Code:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/xxxx  /media/windows
Also, provide details when you ask a question. You say RHEL...what version? What kind of hardware? Is the Windows and RH loaded on the same disk?

RHEL5 .It is on my lap.On same sata hard disk.
Do I want to install any new package.?

Though I must say you have given appropriate title to your thread.

I have noticed , in RHEL if you have subscription number then installing software from official Red Hat repos is a cinch . My friend has RHEl 5.3 without subscription number & I continue to battle in his OS via telnet for installing softwares as 'dependencies missing' occur.
That's why , cent OS is similiar & its repository are free.
