I have XP/redhat dualboot, how can i change it so that windows loads by default?
I have windowsXP home and redhat 7 dual booted on my laptop. i have only been having two problems. the first one is that i want windows first on the boot list, and i have no idea how to do that. The next problem is that my computer connects to the internet through a usb ethernet thing, and redhad 7 doesn't recognise that device and i dont know how to update it without linux being able to reach the internet. In case you haven't noticed, i dont use linux much, i think i would use it more if i could get to the internet through it so i could load things on that part of my computer. thanks for any help.

There is a way but I forgot. See the RH7 reference guide. There should be detailed explaination.
Probably the kernel of RH7 does not recognize (not sure) your "usb ethernet thing"(what "thing"?) Probably you would like a newer kernel, or, to make things easy, install RH9. Qu Chen Qu Chen |
edit grub.conf or lilo.conf to set the default (whichever one you use).

Small answer
1 problem
if you use lilo check file /etc/lilo.conf search string default & set correct seting 2. problem I need some addition information for help a) send version of your kernel ( new kernel 2.2.x-2.4.x support usb device by default ) check /dev/usb device send information about your internet device ( I install usb modem for linux & connect it some time ago ) |
A quick search on Google says: http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~mcken/prj/...inux.html#lilo
