I have ubuntu..... To download Java, how do i know what version?
I have NO idea what to do when people tell me to run some script when they tell me how to find what version i have... By version i just mean when i go to download java, is it the 64, the self extracting, or what?( i have a toshiba if that helps) also i have all my apps on the left side when i mouse over to the left.... again, if that even helps.

you should use the version of java provided by your distribution: there is no need to manually download from the web. Open your package manager (possibly called something like "software center") and use it's search dialog to look for java. Now might be a good time to learn about how software package installation is done on Ubunutu. There is an abundance of documentation on the web. Evo2. |
