I have to wait 1:30 after I connect before I can actually do anything online.

Very strange. After I get fully connect(the kppp minimizes) I have to wait about 1:30 before I can actually do anything online. Pages simply wont load, and I can't connect to AOL Instant Messenger. I a normal ISP that I have to give a DNS for(if that helps any). I can't even load the local test page( which I usually can do in a second offline). Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

If you have anything AOL, then get rid of it. Actually, I do not think that is the problem. I am just predjuice between AOL. I really hate the search engine, and the interface is just...primitave looking! All grey and blocky: It makes you feel like you are using Windows 98 (and this is enough to make anyone go crazy!). Thanks for hearing my opinion!

Yes, I too despise AOL and anything AOL, unfortunately that is what all my friends message with(computer illiterates). In windows I use trillian(a client that connects too many messengers), but in linux I have found that the actuall AIM client is the fastest and least buggy (not to mention it adds my friends list automatically). When I do use AIM in windows I make up for by going into the files with a hex editor and removing the ads( they don't annoy me, I just hate AOL and I know they wouldn't like that). But now once again, I ask for information on my original post.

hmmm... i think i might be having the same problem, but i don't have the patience you appear to have. i disconnected kppp manually long before 1:30 was up. wvdial works perfectly tho.

I had this problem before and didn't figure out it was a time factor till now. Actually i have more patience then I thought too, I timed it and it takes 4:10 to fully work. It is getting old fast, some advice would be nice! Kinternet doesn't work at all(it just turns the modem on and off repetedly), and I don't think wvdial does either.
I will pay the patience price if I have too, but I don't like it.
