Yes indeed.

You can dual-boot it with Linux Mint 17.1 as follows:

This example uses Ubuntu 14.04, but any Linux operating system will do the job.

Fabulous. Thank you for the quick response. I am absolutely new to this entire idea and was told by a local IT guy HP computers were incompatible with Linux. Glad to know it is not the case and will follow your links.
