I have a BIG problem. Need help!
I was installing the schneider digital drivers and I made a huge mistake in the configuration. I put the wrong monitor refresh rates in and now when it trys to load I just get a blank screen. I'm now at init 3 and I installed the driver again, but when I try to run fglrxconfig again it tells me that the command is not found. I need to re-run this so I can get a working x-config on. Any ideas what I can do?

What is fglrxconfig, never heard of that one before. I'm not sure of the Mandrake config tool they use nowadays you can run but if X is installed, you can run xf86config as root at the command to configure X at a console.
In the future, please use better and more helpful thread titles. Your's doesn't describe your specific problem. And of course we know you need help apparently since your posting a question. Regards. |
fglrx is the configuration for X for Radeon cards. I can't run xf86config either. I think I need to tell it what directory the program is in, but I don't know where it is. I googled but couldn't get anything useful. Thanks to anybody who can help me out here.
Sorry about the thread title. |
Why are you googling, use the command find or locate??
find / -name fglrx* And are you logged in as root? If not, most likely these commands are already in your path, so you wouldn't have to type something like /sbin/command-name and so on.... |
Use the "locate command. keeping in mind the fact that Linux is case-sensitive.
locate fglrx locate XF86Config You are logged in as root or becoming root with "su -" (as opposed to just "su"), right? |
Thanks a lot guys. I forget to Su to root. Even after running linux for a few weeks I still forget the little stuff. In time I'll get it down. Thanks for the quick responses.
