I had screw up my LICQ.

Hi all,

I am using RH 7.2. The default LICQ which come from RH did not work, so I install licq from www.licq.com a few days ago, it work for a while but I dunno what happened, when I try and start, it say something about unable to load plugins. I think that happened after I install xine.

Fustrated, i use the command make uninstall, and delete the files and directories manually, including the default LICQ which come from RH.

Now i try and install again using the same tar file, everything is all right i guess. But when I try and start it, it say,

/usr/bin/licq: /usr/lib/licq/licq-bin: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/licq: exec: /usr/lib/licq/licq-bin: cannot execute: No such file or directory

So what should I do now?

Thanks for any help.

:)

hi again,

i had install the default licq from RH cd already, so now its getting better

now i had 2 problems or more???

when i go console type licq(default LICQ from RH), it give me this:

13:54:45: [WRN] Licq: Ignoring stale lockfile (pid 2539)
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
licq-bin: cannot connect to X server :0.0

then if i want to load the licq 1.0.4 from www.licq.com, it give me this:

[root@mcns122 licq-1.0.4]# cd src
[root@mcns122 src]# ./licq
13:55:50: [WRN] Licq: Ignoring stale lockfile (pid 2545)
13:55:50: [ERR] Unable to load plugin (kde-gui): /usr/local/lib/licq/licq_kde-gui.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

i go to www.licq.com and see the FAQ, quote:

4.1: I get something about being unable to load a plugin because "file not found" or "no such file or directory".

This is most likely due to the plugin not being able to find a necessary library. Use "ldd" on the offending plugin to see which library it can't find. Then add the directory containing that missing library to your /etc/ld.so.conf file or LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable (see 4.2).

But i dont understand what it is talking about

How to fix and what to do now?

thanks

I had download and install the KXICQ. So far I did not had any problems yet. My friends tell me that there is something wrong with the LICQ package.

But I will appreciated if any one of you can tell me how to uninstall the LICQ-1.0.4.

I do it this way: I go to the diectory and then type make uninstall, then I just delete the folder off manually.

Is that correct?

Thanks.
