First off, we need to see what command was issued that caused this mess. I'm thinking it was some kind of make, but the first thing printed was
/lib/modules/2.6.18-rc5/build?

Secondly, for a big mess of code, use the code tag (the number sign, or tic-tac-toe board when you write your post) so it gets formatted and offset nicely, making it easier to read.

Thirdly, /root/Desktop/zd1211-4715/ has HORRIBLE IDEA written all over it. No joke, never, ever, for any reason under the sun, run a linux box in gui mode as root. That is an invitation to screw up a linux box as much as spyware screws up windows. Whoops, you just clicked on malware! Oh, if you were a regular user it couldn't effect anything but /home/user, but since you were kind enough to run as root, WE NOW OWN YOUR SYSTEM. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Game over. When running in GUI mode (pictures and colors, where you use a mouse), only play as a regular user, and only become room at the terminal to install software or do updates.

Please let us know what you were trying to do when you got that never ending stream of errors, and we'll try to help. Some description of what you were trying to do also wouldn't hurt any.

Peace,
JimBass

I very much doubt you can modify the kernel of a live CD.

Not certain, but you would have major problems modifying the kernel, as the sources probably aren't present.

Don't take that as gospel, I could be wrong.

Ok, then going back to the questions I asked in the first post, what are you trying to do? What is a wl-5480USB? What did you download that you are trying to install, and are you following any directions posted on the web?

Peace,
JimBass

Ok, that driver will only work for certain with kernel 2.6.6 and 2.6.7. From your previous posts, you're running 2.6.18. That will probably cause problems.

I just tried modifying it to build with my 2.6.19 kernel, and it freaked out. You need to either get the manufacturer to create a new module for modern kernels, or you need to get a 2 year old or so linux to run 2.6.6 or 2.6.7.

Peace,
JimBass

Yeah, if you can compile your own kernel, going back to 2.6.7 is not that bad.
