First off, we need to see what command was issued that caused this mess. I'm thinking it was some kind of make, but the first thing printed was
/lib/modules/2.6.18-rc5/build?

Secondly, for a big mess of code, use the code tag (the number sign, or tic-tac-toe board when you write your post) so it gets formatted and offset nicely, making it easier to read.

Thirdly, /root/Desktop/zd1211-4715/ has HORRIBLE IDEA written all over it. No joke, never, ever, for any reason under the sun, run a linux box in gui mode as root. That is an invitation to screw up a linux box as much as spyware screws up windows. Whoops, you just clicked on malware! Oh, if you were a regular user it couldn't effect anything but /home/user, but since you were kind enough to run as root, WE NOW OWN YOUR SYSTEM. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Game over. When running in GUI mode (pictures and colors, where you use a mouse), only play as a regular user, and only become room at the terminal to install software or do updates.

Please let us know what you were trying to do when you got that never ending stream of errors, and we'll try to help. Some description of what you were trying to do also wouldn't hurt any.

Peace,
JimBass

Thanks for reply!

I am using Slax live CD with 2.6.. kernel.
And the commands i used was make clean then make, after that goes make install but when i type make i get those errors.

I'm using this live CD on my job, because i have no premission to install it on HDD.

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 01:57 PM

Sorry, but this is my first post and I havn't use any board before... didn't know how to write code tags but i'll be carefull more next time

JimBass 01-16-2007 02:04 PM

I very much doubt you can modify the kernel of a live CD.

Not certain, but you would have major problems modifying the kernel, as the sources probably aren't present.

Don't take that as gospel, I could be wrong.

Peace,
JimBass

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 02:18 PM

But I have tried on installed version, still same error!!!

JimBass 01-16-2007 02:43 PM

Ok, then going back to the questions I asked in the first post, what are you trying to do? What is a wl-5480USB? What did you download that you are trying to install, and are you following any directions posted on the web?

Peace,
JimBass

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 04:52 PM

sorry my mistake... I have wl-5480USB that is usb wlan card card home. I have downloaded firmware that is on their site and tried to install it, but i got those errors.

JimBass 01-16-2007 05:38 PM

Ok, that driver will only work for certain with kernel 2.6.6 and 2.6.7. From your previous posts, you're running 2.6.18. That will probably cause problems.

I just tried modifying it to build with my 2.6.19 kernel, and it freaked out. You need to either get the manufacturer to create a new module for modern kernels, or you need to get a 2 year old or so linux to run 2.6.6 or 2.6.7.

Peace,
JimBass

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 05:46 PM

JimBass Thank you!

leveex 01-16-2007 06:29 PM

I have it same problem, but downgrading kernel helped me. Give it a try
Good Luck

JimBass 01-16-2007 06:35 PM

Yeah, if you can compile your own kernel, going back to 2.6.7 is not that bad.

Peace,
JimBass

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 07:44 PM

Thanks I'm trying now, but i have problem with HDD.
But that's for other topic. :)

ttferraritt 01-16-2007 09:12 PM

OK can you help me with going back to 2.6.7 :)
I've downloaded 2.6.7 kernel now what?
