I deleted the internet

I accidentally deleted the firefox icon on my desktop!

EDDY1 11-09-2014 09:35 PM

What OS?

Teufel 11-09-2014 09:38 PM

Right click on desktop and create new link to application. Set "command" for this link to "firefox".
Optionally set icon for this link. A lot of icons (including firefox icon) can be found under /usr/share/icons.

Another option: drag Firefox menu item from menu to desktop

Here.

(Sorry. Couldn't resist. If what Teufel suggested doesn't work, please let us know what distro/version and what desktop environment/window manager you are using.)

Almost every computer comes with "recycle bin".

Click on it. You will mostly find the accidentally deleted icon here. Select the icon by hovering your mouse over the icon. Right click and restore.

Ok

There are days I'd like to delete the internet too

jags1984 11-10-2014 06:25 AM

Deleting the icon will not delete the software installed. So dont worry you can find the icon in the recycle bin or in the folder where the Firefox is installed. Just create a shortcut to your desktop.

Mark it as SOLVED if the issue is resolved.

This was a joke to see what replies I would get with the classic "I deleted the Internet" one of many popular funny tech support stories found on the web

:D

Good luck on the next 1.

I think the mod should remove it since it wasn't a real issue.

It has to be one of the funniest thread titles I have ever read.

He deleted the internet. :)

More and more I wish I could delete it.

I have to admit, if I were the original tech support in that case, it would be hard to hold my laughing. :)

Hi,

I immediately thought of the episode of the IT Crowd when Roy and Moss give Jen "The Internet" to show at her employee of the month acceptance speech. Put a big smile on my face. Thanks.

Evo2.

It really wasn't funny at all. Approach suckex & there was no punch line. Oh it was great. It was a joke. Where was the joke.
Oh I thought you knew it was a joke, please refer to known real-life jokes, let me show you some real ones.
Most if the jokes at the links were second hand, also your first-hand joke will never even compete with the weakest of them. You would be better off wifh a knock knock joke

Next time when you will need a help, people may think that you are kidding again.
