I could not not configure Mobile modem through RHEL-6 graphical interface

Hi Friends,

I have tried to connect the USB modem into RHEL6. Iam able to connect through wvdial.

But i would like to configure with ifcfg-ppp0 so i tried to configure with graphical interface in the network connection.

I have selected the Mobile Braoadband and followed and finally it says

" Connection add Failed

Saving connection failed: (0) Can't write connection type 'cdma' or 'gsm'
"

Also i could not find modem properties to map the dongle with connected USB port like /dev/ttyUSB0 but it was there in the RHEL-5

Please advice and help me to resolve this.

Regards,
Sekar

So this USB modem worked in Rhel 5 but not 6? Can you give us some more info about the device such as make and model number? Dose anything appear in /var/log/messages when you plug in the device?

is this usb dongle on the red hat hardware list ?
https://hardware.redhat.com/

without knowing just what this dongle is ?
no one can really help

it should be listed ( while plugged in )

using
Code:
su -
lsusb
( i like running these commands as root so ... hence the "su -" )

This is RHEL6.4 ? right ?
the current version

so you do have the required support contract

once you know the makr/model and chip in the dongle
Search the RedHat Knowledge base ( your support contract gives you access to it )
https://access.redhat.com/search/quick
or
https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/solutions/

but you have to login to the red hat site to use most of it

What i was trying to say is? My USB modem working fine in RHEL5 with configuration through Graphical interface and as well as wvdial.

But in RHEL 6.3 iam able to connect through only wvdial and working fine. But i could not configure through Graphical Interface in RHEL 6.3 and iam getting the

" Connection add Failed

Saving connection failed: (0) Can't write connection type 'cdma' or 'gsm'
"

I did not see any modem properties in Graphical interface to map the USB ports which is USB modem connected.

I would like to configure through Graphical interface in RHEL6.

Kernel message:

So please help me to configure through Graphical interface with ppp0 so that i can easily bringup and bring down like

Thanks,
