15? Where did you get all those?
There are 6 on the easyurpmi site - main, contrib, jpackage, updates, plf-free, plf-nonfree. There might also be some that were added during the install which point to your installation CDs or DVD, however these aren't that important as what's on the install discs is just a subset of whats in the main repo. Can you list out your /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg? There must be some that you've duplicated. |
here u go..

Wow! I have absolutely no idea what most of those are. Also it looks like you've mixed distro versions (which will lead to depedency errors), you should only ever have repositories setup for Mandrake 10.2 if you're running that.
If I were you: Backup your existing urpmi.cfg then go through and delete any repository that you don't know anything about, is for another version or didn't come from easyurpmi. The repos at easyurpmi are all you need for general computing stuff - playing videos, DVDs, music, burning CDs/DVD etc etc. You may want to keep the Thac repo also as Thac packages some new versions of common packages like KDE. Be aware though that upgrading KDE using his packages can cause a lot of difficulties (search these forums) and that its not necessary to get the latest firefox package off him because Mandriva backports all the firefox security fixes into their updates without changing the version number. Only add those other repos if you know what they are and have a reason for adding them. |
thanx
thanx for the advice, i ve striped down my list massivly, the one from easy urpmi is deifinetly the best, whats the significants of the diffrent rpm sites, the whole main, contrib and updates thingy, y is it nessercary to have 3, and whats the diffrence between whats on them?

main - software packaged by Mandrake/Mandriva staff. You get a subset of the most important packages in main on the 3CDs you downloaded. Boxed sets and club-member only editions have the full main repository on a DVD. The easyurpmi mirrors contain the full main repository (which is about a 4.4GB DVD's worth, its a lot more than 3CDs).
updates - security and bug fix updates to the packages in main made by Mandriva staff. contrib - contributions, packages contributed by 3rd party members of the community, ie. not packaged by Mandriva staff. These are NOT supported by security/bug fix updates from the updates repository. PLF - stuff that can't be included in the main distro for legal reasons, eg. DVD playing, Windows video file codecs etc. Jpacakge - some Java packages from the JPackage project. |
