I have tried in several computers to intall fedora 11 DVD but I have not been succesful. I downloaded the iso and checked the file before I burned it. After burning the cd, it tested ok and could not installed although it detected the media. It just wait for ever. Any ideas?

Be aware that F11 will start the X-server with no xorg.conf file. The X-server will examine your hardware and choose a video driver, from the available FOSS drivers, to use for the graphical installation. If that choice is inappropriate (e.g., you have a newer nVidia chipset, etc.) you will often just get a "black screen."

If that's what's happened to you, see if you can tell anaconda to use the XDRIVER=VESA boot option.

DVD!

CD!

So ... I have to ask ... which is it? If you think a DVD is a CD, that is the problem. If you tried to save money by burning a DVD ISO onto a CD, that is the problem.

If you really performed the media test, then your system successfully read the entire DVD, but something bad happened after that. Did you try a text-mode install?

This does not work

I meant the DVD . How do you install in text-mode?

The problem is that it does not give the error.

It says;
Media Detected
Local intallation media detected

This is a Pentium 4 system.

For some reasons it allowed me to test the DVD medium and it checked ok and I proceeded with installation at the end of installation it represented me with REBOOT and the followings happened;

1.It displays WELCOME screen but no mouse pointer to click the FORWARD button.

Any body with this same ideas?

if your mouse does not work, try hitting the TAB key to reach the desired button............then press enter.

When the first screen comes up and you press enter to install, instead type
Code:
linux text
then press enter.

When there is no mouse use, then navigate with the keyboard arrow keys and then press enter for next setup page in the Fedora installer.

I think you've got a bad ISO there. Where did you download? When you say you checked the file, what process did you do to check? Mouse drivers should load without a problem, something screwy is going on there. Is the mouse plugged in good? I ask because sometimes going back and forth between computers little things get overlooked. Don't give up, we will help you as much as we can.

Hi -

I hate to say it, but I think Fedora is guessing an inappropriate screen resolution .. and some of the GUI is simply getting cut off.
