You are pulling that from the development repository (rawhide) rather than the stable repository. there si a possibility the package is actually broken..

Why not try it from the Fedora 10 rpmfusion stable repository ?

under root add repositoris
then type :

Quote:
yum update

Quote:
yum install vlc mozilla-vlc

you have the FEDORA 11 repo turned on
ferom

"vlc-core-0.9.9-0.1rc.fc11.2.i386 (rpmfusion-free-rawhide)
mixing fedora 10 AND fedora 11 WILL FUBAR your system
you must have by hand TURNED it on ( ether you edited the files --or-- you used yumex and put a check in a check box )
you will need to go through all the files with a rawhide ( in there name) in /etc/yum.repo.d
and edit a lint to read
change
Code:
enabled=1
-- to --
enabled=0
you will need to be root to do this so type in
Code:
su
( your root password when asked )
gedit

I deleted all files in /etc/yum.repos.d (all rpm fusion files) and now when i do
Quote:
[root@localhost yum.repos.d]# rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
Retrieving http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/...ble.noarch.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package rpmfusion-free-release-10-1.noarch (which is newer than rpmfusion-free-release-8-6.noarch) is already installed
but
Quote:
[root@localhost yum.repos.d]# yum install vlc
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Parsing package install arguments
No package vlc available.
Nothing to do
i think i have screwed it up..

well you are fubar'ed now

WHY DID YOU DELETE THEM
you will now need top force reinstall them
fedora still thinks they are installed BUT YOU DELETED them
start here with the fedora repo (fedora-release-10-1.noarch.rpm)
Code:
su -
rpm -ivh http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/fedora/linux/releases/10/Fedora/i386/os/Packages/fedora-release-10-1.noarch.rpm
you might need to uninstall it first before you can reinstall it
( rpm -e fedora-release-10-1.noarch.rpm )
once you reinstall that then install the rpmfusion repo
[code[
su -
rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-*
[/code]

once this is done check your system to see if there are any fedora 11 rpm's installed
[code]
rpm -qa | grep fc11
[code]
if there are any REMOVE THEM

give this a go
Code:
su -
rpm -e fedora-release

rpm -ivh http://mirror.anl.gov/pub/fedora/linux/releases/10/Fedora/i386/os/Packages/fedora-release-10-1.noarch.rpm
yum update fedora-release

rpm -e rpmfusion-nonfree-release
rpm -e rpmfusion-free-release

rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-rpmfusion-*
yum update rpmfusion*
-- if the above dose not work then the easiest thing to do is a full reinstall of fedora 10 --
now to remove those fedora 11 packages
reinstalling them might do it , if not then you must remove them first
Code:
su -
yum reinstall libmad x264-libs k3b-extras-freeworld mplayer ffmpeg-libs xvidcore faac mencoder
to remove
Code:
yum erase libmad
yum erase x264-libs
yum erase ???????
