I can't hear Youtube

No sound, only images, in Youtube after playing music in another mediplayer (amaroK). If I only use youtube (not amaroK or other mediaplyer first) then it works just fine with sound and all. Looks like amaroK and the other players is telling youtube that it can't play sound? Is there a way to manually free the access to sound so I can hear youtube? Thanks

Can you play multiple sounds at once? If not, you might be able to run asound to set software mixing (which could help you in the long run).

While you do this, you also might also set everything to use alsa. Do you still have amarok open? You might need to close it if you don't have software mixing (through alsa) set up.

check this out for reference

Thanks DeusExLinux. Yes with youtube I can play multiple vids w/sound at the same time, but not with amaroK and youtube etc. Asound? alsa? I have Kmix lol... It seems almost random when I can and can't play youtube videos w/sound, but it's always after I have used amaroK. Then it makes no difference even if I quit amaroK...

It's probably an issue with artsd. Not all sounds use the same sound daemon. In fact, this can lead to a particular program taking up a particular sound device.

If you read through that site I gave ya, you should be able to set it up so you can play multiple sounds from multiple programs at the same time (so it doesn't just queue the soudns, or skip playing them if the sound device is being used). You might want to try setting that up.

Thanks DeusExLinux, yes it sounds like the sound device is taken up after i use amaroK or something. I'll do some reading and try setting it up like you say..

Great, if you have any questions during the process, feel free to ask.

It isn't that complicated, as long as you've got alsa installed, and I am pretty sure most Modern Linux distros use Alsa.
