Angry I can't get any DVD playback in SuSE 9.2

Hello all,

I am quite new to the whole Linux thing but have still been able to figure out how to do any thing I could do on win xp. EXCEPT DVD PLAY BACK! I hate to go and boot the cursed win xp every time I want to watch a movie.I have tried both xine and kaffeine. Neither of which are able to play DVD's

I swear to never go back to windows, but I don't swear to only listen to the radio and read books because of one small problem.

THNX.

xine and kaffeine are essentially the same thing( uses the same xine libraries) which are dvd crippled in the stock suse packages. get xine-libs and xine-ui from the packman site http://packman.links2linux.org/ you will also need libdvdcss

Hello,
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I still have the same problem after I downloaded and installed the packages you suggested. I get an error saying that xine can't play these files for legal reasons. Is there a better version of xine? Or do you have any other thoughts on how I can fix this horrid problem?

THNX.

I'm using Xine version 0.99.3 and have no difficulty viewing DVDs.

Can you copy and post the exact error?
