I can't ./configure! :(

Hmmm how can I fix this? Everytime I try to install something from source I can't even get over ./configure...

You don't have any developer stuff installed, most notably gcc(C compiler) g++(C++ compiler) and associated packages. If you have a download edition of libranet, it probably doesn't come with this stuff. You can't compile code w/o a compiler.

What kilgoretrout said. Also an easier way: if you have the harddrive space, go to package manager, equivalent to add/remove programs, its in yast in suse, and i don't remember what's it called in Fedora and select EVERYTHING, then let it install. that way you won't have to worry about ./configure failing again.

libranet does come with development packages, but you probably didn't install any:

did you install apt? i can't remember if that comes with libranet or if i installed it later, but that would probably be an easy way to get what you need. if not, i think you can install programs somewhere in the adminmenu (it's been over a year since i looked at a gui on that box

yeah I have apt installed... been using it all the time, and this is the first time that I have to install from source...
