Where do we type the command "fixmbr"

Looking at the solution of using a Win98 startup disk(floppy) or a WinXP installation CD, at what point and where do we get the opportunity to type in the command "fixmbr"?

since this is a windows question this should probably go to general.

if you able to get into windows via grub then you can open a run cmd.exe and type fixmbr.

if not boot up a windows-nt disk (nt-4, win-xp, vista, win-7), get to a prompt and type fixmbr -- i doubt that win32 (win-98, win-98se, win-98me) would be able to run the nt boot kernel.

Thanks for the help in uninstalling Ubuntu

The solution that worked for me was the one posted by Tim Fisher at this URL: - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe...s/rconsole.htm
Stages 1 to 6. Thanks to these directions and instructions, I was able to enter the Recovery Console and type in the required instructions fixmbr and succesfully repair the Master Boot Record mbr. Thanks again

I think I've just thanked the wrong person for your solution I apologise most strongly for my mistake. I am not that familiar with the layout of this help forum and I've just realised that the solution came from you. However I can at least thank you here and ask you what I should do from here!

I don't know to whom you are replying !

While replying you should try to QUOTE the text as i have quoted yours, so that it is easier to know to whom you are replying.

Meanwhile kindly specify what do you want to do next ? In what matters you need more help ?
