Question I can't install because I can't see anything

I am a total newb so. ok.

When you are installing Linux (Mandrake 10.0) it asks what kind of Video Card you have. When I click my Video Card (nVidia GeForce FX 5200) and press accept the screen goes into static and then it will go back to the Video Card selection page. . I have looked on nVidias drivers page but no luck with instructions. I was wondering, how am I supposed to install the drivers if I can't see anything..

You probably should try a more recent version of Mandriva (Mandrake merged with Connectiva, hence the new name). 10.0 is rather old, and hardware support tends to get better over time. If you absolutely can't get a newer version, try going for one of the generic video options, at least for the install. You can always tweak it once you have things installed.

Cool mandrake

Pretty sure the download version of any MDK release will not include ATI or nVidia drivers as they are proprietary. As recommended, choose the 'vesa' setting. You may have to lookup the specs of your monitor and video cache to correctly set things.
good luck

Try selecting a very conservative, lowest common denominator, video
card. Like VGA 640x480, 16 colors. Same with the monitor. Pick
some very low-spec'd CRT monitor.

What's going on here is that the system is running the FX5200 card
in a mode your monotor can't handle. Later, when you have time you can try higher and higher specs.
