I can't get GD to compile in Apache

Ok, I believe I have GD installed on my server it just doesn't want to compile with Apache.

I followed this advice:

but my browser times out.

Is there another way to get GD installed and working?
I am running Red Hat

Is there a script I can run via SSH to be able to recompile Apache and include GD, Do I even need t recompile apache? Thanks
