I broke the Gimp
I was trying to install some extensions in the gimp, but could not because of permissions. The folder /user/share/gimp/2.0 was owned by root and I couldn't put .scm files in the folder. Today I tried to change the permissions using chmod: (chmod 666 2.0). Now when I open the gimp some of the menus are missing, such as file, edit, etc. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the gimp it behaves the same. How can I do a clean install?
thank you, Cygnis1 |
Have you tried putting the permissions back? Mine are set at 755 for /usr/share/gimp/2.0.
If you want to install extra scripts/plugins, you can do so in you home directory in the folder ~/.gimp-2.6/scripts or ~/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins. If you're not using version 2.6 or the GIMP, change the dot-directory accordingly. |
