i begin typing in gnome and a ?search box appears?!
when in my gnome-fallback kali linux ..
i begin typing..and a...i guess it's a search box? shows up.. ...yeah well i'd like to know what it is and what it can do.. ...i can't seem to get it to do anything and i don't want to really spit random stuff into it of my own messing around so...not urgent... ..could be useful though, I'm sure..come one come call thank you and good night.. <~~~~Tune in to what Turns you on and Drop out of all the rest <~~~~It's not a chore if you blow it up with cplus4 <~~~~I honestly just found that to be funny ...ha... |
I believe that is a command search box. I don't use Gnome so I'm not sure if it is limited to "command" that are in the few menus it provides or not.

Could it be that the mouse is not selecting the active window? very wild guess.

well..i can't get it to do anyyything
yyy ...i type terminal 'enter' ..nothing seems to be accepted by this random box that pops up when i start typing...
if anyone figures this out let me know...i just logged in and i see my desktop, icons, etc...without selecting anything ..if i begin typing, my text is displayed into a miniature box in the bottom right hand corner of my screen with no label or information of what it is if i right click on it...sorry i'm new to linux...i use the gnome-fallback because it's backported for security..? anyway i enjoy its speed on my old xp machine questions? ...i can take a screen capture...if that would help...i'm not sure if that kinda of thing is allowed on here, this being my second thread postings. thx dan cusion.is the sofa king.a german joke |
Kali linux boots into fallback mode by default so that you can view kali tools. Also the box you're referring to is a command promt try entering the command
