I Am Such A Newbie
Okay dont hate me but I have no idea what the best way to partition my disks is. The question to be exact is how big should my partitions be? I am runnig Gentoo on AMD 64 in a Ferrari 3200. Or is there a website that has a scheme or standards depending on my needs?
Thanks for the help if somebody already asked this question just direct me to that thread. See ya (pretty soon Im guessing) |
well you can search this forum for "partition schemes". There are dozens of threads out there.
Here's one that I recently posted. I will only say it all depends on your needs present and future. For quick reference, here's my scheme /boot - 100 MB / - 14 GB for slackware /swap - 1 GB /home - 56 GB / - ~10 GB for Ubuntu / - ~10 GB for Arch Linux free space - rest of it for future distro/s. |
You may also want to check out the forum group on the gentoo web site.... They would also be able to help answer you question. However tuxrules scheme also would work as well depending on your setup and what you want to do with the system.
