i'm using yum for the first time
is '# yum install amsn' right?
this is what it's doing at the mo' primary.xml.gz 57% |============== | 168 kB 03:12 ETA Reading repository metadata in from local files base : ################################################## 2622/2622 primary.xml.gz 57% |============== | 168 kB 03:12 ETA is that normal? *edit* ok, well i let it run and it doesn't know what amsn is, nor xine. but i downloaded the livna config which helped with xine but not amsn. |
You may want to try the sample yum.conf here:
http://www.fedorafaq.org/samples/yum.conf That's what a lot of people use - just remember to copy your current yum.conf and back it up in case of problems. Also, if you want a more intuitive interface, try GYUM, it's a GUI frontend and works quite well - just bare in mind that it takes a while to load up because it is scanning all of the repositories for updates. http://fedoranews.org/tchung/gyum/2.0/ The website says that you need a special version of YUM to use it, but it works fine with the stock version. (If anyone can back me up or correct me on this, please do so.) |
cheers!
I installed yumex last night, i like the fact that it gives you a list of apps with descriptions for each one. is there much difference between yumex and gyum? |
