hyperlinks in openoffice

Hello,

Ive got the most extraordinary problem.

Ive created a 'linux quickstart guide'.odt, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to create a hyperlink from text in the table of contents, to the relevant section further along in the same document.

I have been trying to do it for the past hour, but I have failed miserably. I am baffled.

Select the target of the link and make it a bookmark - select bookmarks in the menu and give it a distinct name, for example "section_b".

Then select the text that will become the hyperlink and select the hyperlinks dialog from the menus, in the section for "target in document" select the icon - it will pop up a dialog window with a list of items, including the current bookmarks. Select the created bookmark, in this example "section_b".

Newer versions of OpenOffice require you to hold down CTRL to allow clicking a link.

Links can go to other OpenOffice documents as well.
