Hw to copy an office writer document to flash drive (mint 17)

New to Mint 17, can't seem to find way to copy office writer documents to a flash drive. And need to do it rather quickly of course. Any help?

Open your home directory by clicking on it. You should see your drive listed. Double click on it and it should open. Then right click on the file and choose "copy". Then in the open drive right click and choose "paste". Or just drag the file into the drive.

If that doesn't work, you will have to mount the drive in root using terminal (Applications > System > Terminal) :
Code:
 sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
Then copy file and send it to the drive:
Code:
 cp /path/to/file /mnt
Hope this helps.

How did you try and what were the results?
Is it just office documents or anything?
Mint will make partitions from additional drives available under the /media/username directory. (Substitute your actual username). You could open a filemanager and right click on the directories and select the permissions tab to see the owner:group and permissions. Or you could open a terminal and use: ls -ld /media/username. Most likely, the owner group will be root:root so you need to either copy as root with sudo or change the owner.
