Hung up on boot

I posted this question on another thread I had, that had finally solved my original problem. There wasn't a response, so I am going to try and post it to a new thread for a new problem.
I did fdisk & it showed the drive I needed was hda5. C: is 1 & 2, my old drive in D: is 3 & 4, therefore the other 3 drives are 5, 6 & 7. I changed everything on my zipslack bootdisk & in E:\Linux\ . On start from linux folder, I get the kernel panic message. When I booted from the floppy I logged in as 'root'. It brought me to: 'root@zipslack:~#' . What do I do there? I typed help, but junk flashed by too fast, even for a speed reader. Hopefully this is an easy problem. Thanks for the help. :newbie:

The kernel panic message has something to do with not being able to mount our filesystem properly on the hard disk or you haven't got the drivers for your hard drive in your kernel.
I don't know what you're trying to do now (or what caused the problem) for example a kernel compile so unless you can figure your problem out with what I posted above post some more info :)

To read the help text try this:

Code:

help | less
help | more

more only allows reading further with less you can scroll back afaik.
