I am a Linux Newbie and have a HP Pavillion dv6000 running Ubuntu 8.10.
Wireless has been updated but anytime I try and download a torrent or watch a streaming video it will disconnect and connect disrupting the download so it wont continue. Is there any thing I can do to fix this. Im pretty sure its a Broadcom wireless card but not sure.

Well run lspci and if you can't figure it out post the output here so we know for sure what card it is. On a side note I had a dv9000 and I have a dv6000 (has issues of its own right now but that's another story) the 9000 had a Broadcom card and never had an issue with linux, the 6000 has an intel 3945 and I have experienced the same issue when running 32-bit linux, but not when running 64-bit version both 32-bit and 64-bit were debian lenny on the 6000 and was running sarge on the 9000.
I think it may have something to do with the 32-bit, are you running on 64-bit hardware, you might try that.
