HP pavilion dv6000, OS linux, problem: wireless driver, How do I make it work?

Hello, I hope you can help me troubleshoot this issue, I have a hp pavilion dv6000 and the wifi is not working, I have found a howto tutorial it says that I need to install ndiswrapper, it says that in order to avoid any installation problem I need to count with linux-source,linux-headers, I have looked for the kernel in terminal it says 2.6.35-22-generic,my question is where to download linux-source,linux-headers,and if you can help me to solve the whole problem so I can install the driver i need to make the wireless connection work?

Please post the output of
Code:

lspci
so that we can see which wireless device you have. I assume that you are using Ubuntu, please post if I am wrong here. This will help us to help you.

yes ubuntu 10.10 maverick, one of my friends installed this OS I am totally new using this operating system, I really need help with the wireless driver.

TobiSGD 05-11-2011 03:51 PM

OK, I see that you have a Broadcom 4312 LP-PHY network chip. You have to install the package firmware-b43-lpphy-installer, you can do this either with the Synaptic package manager or via the command line with
Code:

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
Alternatively you can use Ubuntu's hardware driver program, which should be available in the System-menu. After that you should be able to use the wireless with the network manager.

In any case you have to have a Internet connection for that, so use a wired connection for that.
