Unhappy HP Laserjet M1522nf


Dear Linux users,
I have a HP laserjet M1522nf all in one(scan,print,copy) printer attach to my Dell system running ubuntu 10.04.My problem is that each time I scan a document using Xsane Image Scanner,text appear not smooth.I have attach a sample as reference.Below are the link I use to check my driver

Output for HP laserjet M1522nf details are as below:

What resolution do you use for the scan in xsane?

I did not see the problem in the PDF. That just had 'testing' handwritten and nothing else on the page.

What does the preview look like? Do you select the scanning area to just what you need?

Are you using the flat bed or the document feeder?

did you "apt-get install hplip-gui" or equivalent? (I also usually install hplip-cups) I find that running the hp device manager as root is the best way to install the thing.

Do you scan to a single page and view the result?

Generally a scan at 200 dpi (fax quality) or 300 dpi (laserjet) is sufficient for text things. I tend to use gray as the color option.

Most of the time, when I have problems with scanning, it is because I have the options messed up.

Thanks you for helping.I follow bryanl advise and the scan is much better for documents.Tried this on a new installation of Linux Mint 9.I will now try it on the ubuntu system and see if it works.
