HP 8250 scanner and avision (sane)

I have an HP 8250 scanner. With the avision package for sane, it works great. The sane website says that that scanner has "good" support.

The problem I have is that I cannot get the ADF to work under sane / avision.

Can anyone point me to places I might get help on this? Any forums which are specific to scanning and digital imaging that anyone recommends?

Thanks.

I got an email asking for an update...so here's where my 8250 scanner effort is at:

1. The scanner does not properly initialize from the linux (sane) platform.

2. If initialized from a laptop running the HP scanning suite, the scanner can then be plugged into a linux system, and run with sane.
-the ADF will work, but single sided only
-the scanner does not handle jambs well (may require reinitialization from a windoze system running the HP suite
-have not tried film (negative and slide) scanning

3. Frequent "Error 15" after a jamb, or power interruption or some kind of fault. Again, running the HP suite from a windows machine helps.

4. If someone has a USB analyzer package installed on a windoze system, there is a developer who is willing to expand the code to properly handle the 8250. This would be great, but I cannot do this, as the only windoze system I have access to is not mine. However, if done, the 8250 seems to be a good medium production scanner. Certainly, if it was fully working on the linux platform, and the soft buttons were all working properly, it would be GREAT.

I hope this helps.
