Howto upgrade from squeeze 32bit to 64, process is 64, & has 4 g ram

Hello all, I have a Toshiba Satellite A300, it has a 64 bit dual core, also 4 gig ram.

Initially I installed Debian Squeeze i386, and it does not work with the 4 gig ram, only 3, as I can confirm with HTOP.

How should I go about improving this?

Should I install Debian from scratch? In that case which is the correct version?

Should I install PAE? How do I do that?

Thankyou in advance.

pae kernel can use the 4Gb of ram. Install it the same way you would any other package.

or you can do a clean install using a amd64 iso.

aptitude

Should I:

Code:

aptitude install linux-image-2.6.32-5-686-bigmem
?
