HOWTO edit Files with Emacs


hi

Im configurateing my SSH and I want to put a banner.
I deletet the # infront of baner /etc/issue.net

but now I dont know HOW TO INSERT MY TEXT IN THIS FILE SO THAT IT COMES AS A BANNER WHEN SOMEONE TRY TO LOG ON

I opened the issue.net file with emacs. but I cant put in any text
in emacs tutorial I learnd how to move/delete/etc text. but not a word about EDITING FILES
help_me_plz

For the banner you need to edit /etc/motd

You can't modify the files because you are probably not running the edit command as root. Try to edit the files as root
