how would you find the mac address


how would you find the mac address of any interface in the LAN
(ip address of the interface is known to me)

you'd use the arp command.

not arp

arp gives the only hardware address which are in my cache.
but how would i know the which are not in my cache.

Remotely it's impossible (because you only know what the NIC sends). You can try locally by interface shutdown.
