How/Where to start setting up a LAN?

Hello,
I really don't know much about networking, and I have three computers at home that I would like to create a LAN with, so I can share internet, files, and a printer with, but I really don't know where to start. The more I research the more confused I get. Two of the computers are running Debian and the other is running Windows XP.

Any help is appreciated.

The easiest way is to use a 4 or 8 port router. You then connect your modem to the router and then each box to a port on the router. If you don't want to give each computer a fixed ip, set them to dhcp.

Maybe you should have started your thread with that question!

See here for printer: http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Debian-and-Win...h_windows.html and here for file sharing: http://www.hackorama.com/network/samba.shtml
