Question How to watch video with RH9 ????


Goodday to everyone.

I am trying yo watch some video on RH9.

I open up my CD ROM folder and double click any movie.

I recieve a error message stating that

"Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying "/mnt/cdrom/ABC.MPG"."

Please Help !
Due to imy lack of experience wif linux please explain in details on!

what command to type

What would i see after i have type that command

You will probably need to get MPlayer and install it. Best movie player around.

READ the documention on the MPlayer homepage and READ it well. Otherwise, you'll have headaches. Do a search here on LQ for MPlayer and I'm sure you'll have LOTS of threads on how to install it. If you still have problems, let me know.

Red Hat distributions do not contain a really good video player.

You should download and install one.
Here are two links :

XINE : http://xine.sourceforge.org
VLC : http://www.videolan.org

These two players concidered the best, at least among people I have discussed with about this subject. I personally prefer VLC, but it is subjective. Go there and read their instructions, they are quiet detailed and aimed for newbies.
