how to view password column in ldap

Hi Guys,

We use ldap on our user accounts. It has password column similar to /etc/passwd. I need to find out who users has a NP on their password field. Anyone knows the parameters in ldapsearch on how to view it? I could view all the gecos such as comment, home dir, uid, gid except for this password field.

Any idea?

TIA

Which ldap you're using? In order to view user passwords, you need to be the admin or use admin account to search for password entries. However, you can search for userPassword attribute for user passwords.

I'm not sure if the account I'm using is an admin but I tried to use userPassword attribute but it did not return any info. No error either.

As a normal or anonymous user you cannot view other user's userPassword entry. You will need to be admin to do so OR use admin's bind dn for searching such entries.
