How to use the Minicom or Seyon to send AT commands to the droid phone.

Hi All

I was trying to connect my android phone just to send some AT commands using Minicom or Seyon. But I was not able to connect it. I have connected my phone using a USB cable.

Do I need to connect my phone through the serial cable by using a minicom connector to be able to send the commands to the phone.

Also when I launch Seyon it says
Initializing Modem......
then

Modem at /dev/ttyS0 is available. If I try to Dial it says

Warning related to the Baud rate.

But After that I am not able to do anything.

Everything looks like struck up.

As far as I know, there is no way to send AT commands to the baseband chip from USB. Modern smartphones have an abstraction layer between the user and the actual baseband hardware, so it isn't like older phones where a user could pass AT commands directly to the chip.

Are you sure the phone is connected on /dev/ttyS0.
If I recall correctly phone-modems are often connected through /dev/usbACM0.

Hi MS3FGX

I have tried the same thing on Windows using Hyper Terminal and I was able to do it.

I can send a ATD*99# command and in response I got a CONNECT on the terminal Window of Hyper Terminal.

Based on the above findings I tried to do the same thing on Linux Machine but I am not able to do that.

On Windows I was able to send the AT commands to my phone using the Hyper terminal and for the command ATD*99# I

Hi MS3FGX

I have tried sending the AT command ATD*99# on the hyper terminal in Windows I was able to connect. I am not sure whether

the commands directly went to baseband processor or not but I was able to connect and was able to send/receive data. Also I

made a voice call by disconnecting the LAN cable of PC and connecting the PC to the Android phone.
