how to use my imac as 2 workstations

Hi,
I am testing vnc functions, but I only have 1 imac. I am thinking to set up a server and the viewer on the same machine to see if it would be ok.

The problem happens. It is infinite loops; therefore, I have to shut down my imac to restart everything.

I thought there is something I can do to have server and viewer on the same machine. I am ok to split monitors, but how to let server own a different ip to let the viewer to connect without having infinite loops happen?

You need two machines. Download VirtualBox, or other virtual machine software, and create a virtual machine running another copy of Linux.

Hi Arizona,
Thanks for your input about my question. But, is that mean I need to buy another os for my iMac if I want it in Mac os? Is there any economic way to deal with this issue?

Are you actually using Linux? You're posting in a Linux forum so I assumed you are. You mentioned you're using an iMac but iMacs can run Linux. But now you're asking if you need to buy another OS. If you are using Linux you would surely know that there are many free versions of Linux you can download.

Is this what you want to do www.wikihow.com/Setup-VNC-on-Mac-OS-X
Apache is all already build in on MAC all you have to do, is to configure it

Virtualbox is available via download for all OSs and Mac as well. It doesn't cost anything (afaik as long as one uses it at home or/and for learning-purposes. http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
