Are you intending to ask a question, or make a statement?

Do you plan to tell us how?

Submitting a new thread here will produce better results if you make clear your intent.

This is probably the most basic use case for one the Linux's simplest commands. What have you tried? How did it fail?
Code:
mv /some/file /some/other/directory/
Hard to imagine where that can go wrong go wrong go wrong go wrong go wrong....

---- rod.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions :-)

For help try :

Code:
# mv --help
Displays your OS version's help information for command mv .

or

Code:
# info mv
Displays your OS version's help manual for command mv .

IF unsure of a command try apropos (whatever you think is the command)
as apropos searches your OS manual pages names and descriptions.

Code:
# apropos mv

If you hit the same thing on google as an query you will get 1000s of sites in an instance explaining you the use of this command.
I am surprised that you are willing to wait for the reply of members of this blog instead of using your best friend "GOOGLE"
