How to use e2fsck to repair my disk?

e2fsck -a /dev/sda2
/dev/sda2 is mounted.
e2fsck: Cannot continue, aborting.

umount /dev/sda2
umount: /home: target is busy
(In some cases useful info about processes that
use the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1).)

Drop to runlevel 1, log in as root, umount /home, (or boot from a Live CD) then fsck the partition?
