How to use crontab ?

I have a file named sphereacct.scp in my website which hosted on a linux machine.And i want to send this file every hour to windows machine by ftp after sending the file i want to delete this sphereacct.scp from my site and create and empty sphereacct.scp
is this possible?
if it is how can i do it which commands i have to use?
If you know something about that can you explain me but please start with how to open a crontab script and make it work?

The manpage for crontab is very straightforward.

man crontab

You should also make sure you know how to use vi. There are various web-based tutorials out there.

I think it is an ok intro to cron.

As for sending things, you would probably need to Google how to set up a shell script.
