How to use a proxy under redhat 8.0
How to use a proxy under redhat 8.0? The goal is to use it for a stealth surf.
Thanks for any idea |
You would use the proxy with your web browser. Which one do you use?
Currently with Firefox the method is to select, from the drop down menu -> Tools -> Options -> General -> Connection Settings -> Manual proxy configuration and enter the appropriate settings. Works great for me from within the wonderful People's Republic of China! |
Thanks for your answer and...humor. Well I use for now Mozilla...and can't find tools\Options (but I will find...)------------>HOW to install\use Firefox on a RedHat box? Well I did a google search and it seems that firefox comes with RH 9 or Fedora :-(

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies -> Manual proxy configuration Don't forget to hit OK on the way back out. P.S. What was the humor? That was totally serious! One can't even see most of the LQ screenshots in MasterQ's thread without a proxy - not to mention other stuff... |
YES : and Advanced\Proxies...It's on my way guys! Thanks. It works fine now :-)

click on the mozilla.org link in your browser and go get it! Now, to install it on RH I shouldn't give you advice. You may need to get one of those rpm things, I don't know. Search the RH forum, and I would almost guarantee you that it's been asked and answered already. The way to install it in Slack is quite easy, but if I told you how to do that...well, you'd probably just dump RH and go running to get yourself the first 2 Slackware 9.1 CD's. Best to get some more experience with RH before you jump on the Slack bandwagon. ;) Edit: Firefox is a faster browser, which you're really gonna want using a proxy. :D |
