How to use a CD/DVD writer

I have FC-5 and use KDE.

I'm trying to burn an ISO image to DVD using K3b, a CD/DVD tool that comes with FC-5. It doesn't work and I get the following error messages:

x :-( Failed to change write speed 5540->11080
x Fatal error at start up: Invalid argument
x Unable to eject media.

Then in a "Debugging Report" I get the following:

System
-----------------------
K3b Version: 0.12.10

KDE Version: 3.5.1-2.3 Red Hat
QT Version: 3.3.5
Kernel: 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp
Devices
-----------------------
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4167B DL11 (/dev/hdd, ) at [CD-R; CD-RW; CD-ROM; DVD-ROM; DVD-RAM; DVD-R; DVD-RW; DVD-R DL; DVD+R; DVD+RW; DVD+R DL] [DVD-ROM; DVD-R Sequential; DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential; DVD-R Dual Layer Jump; DVD-RAM; DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite; DVD-RW Sequential; DVD+RW; DVD+R; DVD+R Double Layer; CD-ROM; CD-R; CD-RW] [SAO; TAO; RAW; SAO/R96P; SAO/R96R; RAW/R16; RAW/R96P; RAW/R96R; Restricted Overwrite]

SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615 FYS2 (/dev/hdc, ) at [CD-ROM; DVD-ROM] [DVD (I think the clipboard cut this off)

I've tried running it as root but I get the same result. Does anybody know what's going on and how to fix it?

Thanks,

royeo

Try using cdrecord and growisofs instead of using K3b. These two programs is what K3b uses to write to CD and DVD recorable mediums.
